Sustainable Agile Project Management
Sustainable Agile Project Management is a GPM course
that integrates the fundamental sustainability elements of PRiSM into the Agile
Project Management (AgilePM®) methodology.
How is Sustainability integrated into AgilePM®?
A new
Principle is added for Sustainability, a new Practice to address Sustainability
throughout the lifecycle and a product, the Sustainability Management Plan,
which incorporates the organization’s strategy on sustainability and the
environment and how it applies to the project at hand. The objectives,
activities and other management products of the method that require some
element of addressing sustainability are also highlighted. Elements of
sustainability that need to be included in different areas of the product
lifecycle phases are also incorporated.
AgilePM®
is an iterative-based approach for project management, based on the proven DSDM
Atern Project Framework. It provides an easily tailored and scalable method
for the management of all types of projects. It is a universally accepted,
iterative development based method for effective project delivery, used more
and more by the UK Government as well as the private sector (both in the UK and
internationally). SAPM infuses AgilePM® with elements from our PRiSM
Methodology and training to ensure sustainable outcomes.
SAPM
also incorporates the UN Global Compact’s Ten Principles for Sustainable
Development, the UN’s Post 2015 Business Engagement Architecture, the GRI G4
Reporting Framework, and encompasses The Energy Management Standard ISO 50001,
The Environmental Management Standard ISO 14001 and Guidance on Social
Responsibility ISO 26000, The Quality Management Standard ISO 9001, and
Guidance on Project Management ISO 21500.
What is Sustainability in Project Management?
Corporate
Social Responsibility is playing an increasingly large role in how consumers,
stakeholders, employees, and competitors view organizations and the demand for
skilled project managers that can apply sustainable methods to
projects is in high demand. The GPM-b certification aims to show the
benefits that can be gained from adopting sustainability based project delivery
approach while covering the full processes and activities required to fully
integrating the P5 framework into their own working practices and project
delivery methodologies such as AgilePM.
Why take this course?
As you will already have AgilePM® Practitioner
certification, this course will enable you to go further and understand how to
achieve the organization’s Sustainability goals in your projects when using
AgilePM®. At the end of the course, you will then be able to take the
short version exam (only 50 questions and 1 hour duration instead of 150
questions and 3hrs duration taken at the end of the PRiSM course) due to
the Recognition of Prior Learning path (RPL). Passing this exam will earn you GPM-b®
certification, which leads to GPM® and GPM-m® certifications
(both competency-based).
Organizations
need to be assured the individuals that manage their projects can integrate
methods to achieve sustainability goals and still achieve project specific
objectives. Project Managers need credentials that validate their proficiency
with these specialized qualities. As Social and Environmental Stewardship is
increasingly becoming the top driver for business success, with issues such as
global warming, pollution, depletion of natural resources, energy efficiency
and energy conservation in the headlines on a daily basis. These factors need
to be taken into account in all project phases, in the use of the product and
in its decommissioning and disposal.
At the end of this course you will be able to:
Integrate Sustainability into
your Project Management processes
Explain the differences
between a standard project and sustainability based project management
Demonstrate working knowledge
of the practical application of sustainability skills and techniques
Manage to the P5 concept and
to ensure the checklist of sustainability is managed throughout a business
change or project
Explain the benefits of added
value through introducing sustainability processes
How to develop and use a
Project Sustainability Management Plan (SMP) and other project specific
tools
Describe the basic principles
of the sustainability project management processes and life-cycle phases
Understand how to integrate
Sustainability into the AgilePM lifecycle, products and practices.

Sustainability centered ISO Standards and how they relate to projects
